I received a postal mail this evening, and I was really glad to have FINALLY received it.

Woooooo... it's a letter from McDonald's Malaysia. Certainly should be something really big. Haha.

With an anxious heart, I tore up the envelope...

Congratulate me for winning some FB contest!!

It was really late considered I won this at July 30th this year, and yet I only received it nearly 3 months after that. Grrr..

But better late than never. So, see my rewards for being in Facebook all the time..

A lot of Sausage McMuffin with egg coupons! Wow!

At 1st view, I really thought I won myself 5 free burgers. However, there's a catch...

Even so, this term doesn't really bother me. I can just buy anything I want and get that free burger. Let's say, hash browns, coffee, apple pie...

The only thing that freaks me out is that THERE IS NO MCDONALD'S IN PERLIS. Not happy.

KFC Afternoon Cravers review

Few days ago, I went to KFC to try out their new Afternoon Cravers menu.

It is only available in weekdays, from 2-6pm. So it was a great opportunity to try what they have in store for me.

So I ordered Fizzberry Mix and Cheesy Fries. Just to try out and waste $$$.

Fizzberry Mix

It is actually a very simple drink. With a berry mix at the bottom, 7-up is added till the brim, with those ice. Tasted less gaseous than other carbonated drinks. Not too bad. But not any one of the experiences mentioned above. Hehehe

I do love this one, far better than Cheesy Wedges. You can slowly indulge the cheese with those fries. Nice presentation as well. I'd love it if they include this in their normal menu.

With the total of RM6.30, it makes up a very nice snack in the afternoon. Non-Sarawakians should also MUST try the 3-layer-tea! Haha! Try it!

Microcontroller 8051

Without a shadow of doubt, this is the most daunting and scary course for all diploma students, irrespective of which course.

The book

If you're really into this electronics engineering field, you will think that actually 8051 micro-controller is pretty basic. Sort of a child's play. However, for most of us, we really struggled.

Not only struggling with this book (admit that this book is good), we also have to struggle with this.

Sadly, most of the time is NO.

However, work must carry on, whether I like it or not.

1st experience at Manhattan Fish Market, Queensbay Mall Penang

After my interview for internship at Penang, I decide to try something totally new in Penang. After all, it was my birthday weekend, so, just spent more money haha..

Manhattan Fish Market is actually a localized-imported-franchise which specializes to fish products. It claimed to serve the best fish and chips in the world.

This is the interior of the restaurant.

I loved it whenever the restaurant is empty. Much more peace, quiet and serenity, and I get my food fast. Haha. Maybe not so good for my eyes, but whatever...

I went on to order the cheapest food I can find in the menu.

This is a promotional item: Pirates of the Mediterranean. I have some rice with corn, fresh broccoli, some more fresh carrots... and fish of course.

With some lemon to add some sour twist. Nice. Maybe small portion...

The toppings on the fish is actually add-ons, which cost more money. Sigh.

So, it's actually a simple meal. I was slapped 20 bucks for it.

Well, at least I am still in budget and tried something new. Plus, the convenience of getting online for as long as I can there made it more worthwhile.

Perhaps I should eat more stuffs like this instead from now on.

One major wire GONE

Introducing my latest acquisition today...

Tada... This is my new Logitech wireless mouse. I really need this since my previous cheap mouse keeps broken at times I need it the most. Very sick with it.

And by saying "at times I need it the most," I actually mean ALL THE TIME when I am using my computer. Using the track pad is really awful.

With this mouse, I just need to plug-in...

... and forget. This nano-receiver is really small, that carrying it around will be very risky. Logitech makes it so small, so after plugging in, there's no need to get it out.

I even got an exchange unit from the shop due to some defects. So, actually I am holding an even newer mouse.

I really hope this time will never disappoint me anymore. I am expecting no more than 3 years life span. The longer the better. Go Logitech.

Got a new watch =D

I have started my search of a new watch ever since my last one failed big time during my flight back to Perlis.

Watch is very indispensable time-keeping tool. Forget about mobile phone, watch is THE ONLY thing that can tell you the time, when you need it the most.

So, after searching high-and-low throughout the state of Perlis, I finally settled for this baby.

Packed nicely in a lush box. See it's CASIO Edifice series.
It may be cheap, but no play play one haha

Tada.... I really like it. Simplistic and yet so stylish. No cheap plastic feel.

I also bought myself a very cool shirt at Padang Besar earlier on.

I was so happy to grab this imitated Red Bull Racing team shirt. While I may not drink Red Bull often (prefer coffee anyway), the brand really fascinates me. Red Bull Racing is also doing good in Formula 1 now, so I like that team, apart from Lotus.

With only 40 bucks, I think it's a great value, considering it could be up to 400 bucks if I buy the original ones. Hmmm

Some junkyard

My friends and I visited a junkyard, on the very day most of us just arrived back from our respective hometowns.

All for doing the safety project and presentation AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE.

Thanks to the Indian owner, and my friend's politeness and their Tamil language skills, we gained EXCLUSIVE uncensored access.

From the outside

Lots of aluminium cans, nicely packed into giant sacks.

Disused, written-off electrical appliances are all here.

Excavator is ready to smash everything in front of him.

A mountain of scraps.

Some wooden planks above a fish-breeding pool.

Piles of papers. So wasteful, yet someone else saw gold.

A dog lies down in peace.

Another disused taxi car out there.

Inside a totally crapped car. Parts are all stripped down bare.

Luckily we managed to finish this project from zero in just a night. I think we did well in our presentation as well. So, kudos to my partners for their hard work.

Meals I had on my way back to "jail", keep eating

2-week-holiday just flew by very fast. Too fast, I have to say.

Before I knew it, I simply had to board the plane back to the place, where life is good, but studies are not good.

This is not to say I am getting pessimistic about my study place or whatever. I am just saying the harsh realities that I really need the strength to face them all.

Before all, eat first. This was what I pre-order on that flight.

It is chicken nasi briyani with some special sauce, added with some 100ml of water. This tasted not bad. It was a desperate attempt to make my Air Asia flight a bit more like MAS flight.

When I arrived in LCCT, my glutton urged me to have another meal in McDonald's.

I took the large set because I wanted to try the Cheese McShaker. It turned out to be a spectacular BIG FAIL. I was even more disappointed that the fries given is nowhere near LARGE portion. Sigh.

Show you another food taken in Perlis.

It's black-pepper chicken with rice, added with an egg and ice water. The chicken itself was so-so, but with RM6, I expect some more portions really. I could have simply opt for something more standard in KFC hmmmm...

Yea eating can be very therapeutic, don't you think?

Fr. Stan and Prof. Rice youth rally 2010

It was awesome experience. Even though with some hiccups, it was still very much enjoyable.

Even though at times I didn't like the excessive jumping that makes no sense at all, I still content with what I had been though the rally.

The picture may suggest that I looked bored, but NO NO NO I was good. Haha

As the title said, the rally had 2 awesome speakers.

Fr. Stan Fortuna, a Franciscan priest from Bronx, New York. He has traveled around the world, preaching Gospel in his special ways.

He makes hip hop, rap and rock a more soul-moving instrument to bring us closer to God's most infinite love. It's his 3rd year in a row that he came here, and the youths are just loving it.

Another one of Prof. Robert "Bob" Rice, a professor from Steubenville, Ohio. He is more into country music, and more into bringing Catechism in a more youth-friendly way.

In a theme of "Home Run" (yeah kinda sounds like baseball), both of them presented more on the journey towards Heaven, the eternal home. On how we should ever be faithful and loving towards God and one another.

The Master of Ceremonies throughout the rally... like him or hate him, he's loved by God. :)

There was a concert as well, and my brother and I were so "privileged" to have a front seat.

Really cool, aside from the problematic sound system. Share with you a cool video.

It's really a shame that we cannot took part in photo sessions because we were urgently called back to depart to Sibu.

Anyhow, it's still a good experience. Kudos to all in organizing committee, music ministry, 2 great speakers, and above all, PRAISE AND THANK GOD for everything.

Not-so-happy Air Asia reminder

You always make this kind of face in an Air Asia flight.

Simply because you need to pay, pay and PAY MORE.

Luckily I paid nothing for baggage this time. But still I was still unhappy because of this.

I wonder whose elbow is so sharp that could make a hole in this arm-rest.

It's still OK even if one has sharp elbow, but why Air Asia does NOT fix it? I was really puzzled to see this, let alone putting my arms on arm-rest. Grrr

As usual, it's a sold-out flight.

"Hot seats" - certain special seats - are labeled with red head-covers. Otherwise, it was still same-old-stuffs and chaos. Hmmmm

Get Maxis Broadband :)

I subscribed to Maxis Broadband about 3 months earlier, thanks to their very good promotion.

NO NO NO free T-shirt la, but I do get a free modem, which is pretty cool. =)

For these 3 months, my experience with Maxis is pretty pleasant. Not much users around Kuala Perlis and Kangar really made it a super-power in browsing the web.

Just that don't get over the data quota. Haha. For 38 bucks per month (after rebate of 30 bucks which I have paid earlier for 5 months), it's a fantastic deal.

Even more awesome, that modem is automatically and natively compatible with Linux. WOW.

So, get one now. It's simply the best mobile broadband. :) ~~but still cannot beat streamyx la :P~~

My Merdeka meal

This is what I had in this auspicious Independence Day, where Malaysia become 53-year-old.

It was a very delicious Siamese Tom Yam fried rice. Added with vegetables, succulent juicy prawns and the intense sour-spicy taste, it was very good. Probably not so happy with the portion given, but nah, whatever.

And ya I topped my "celebration" with Guinness. It's really been a while since I tasted that awesome stout beer. Hmmm

Street rice nasi kandar

There's a famous rice stall, famously called as "nasi kandar" in the middle of Kangar town.

It's called "Fatimah Nasi Kandar" stall, located near Aneka supermarket and Klinik Menon.

It's only a bicycle cart stall, but it attracts a lot of diners for their nasi kandar. Picture above suggested otherwise, but there are long queues everyday, even in this fasting month.

It has been around for long, and I only got to try it after 2 years here, because it's always packed here!

After I tasted it, I fully understand why everyone is crazy for it. Fragrant rice, succulent meat, fantastic gravy. Wow.

Even though it was not the most stomach-fulfilling, for 2.50 bucks like a beef rice above, it's PERFECT for someone on a shoestring budget.

Keep eating and drinking while you still can, but don't be an over-glutton :) God bless.

You cannot accept hunger, and so are they

Actually, Malaysians are very lucky indeed. It's widely known that the hobby of most Malaysians is EATING. We just cannot stand being hungry.

However, in other parts of the world, many children are suffering from malnutrition. Such malnutrition could stunt their growth and have permanent bad effects on them. See this video from World Food Program.

Not forgetting those area which are severely hit by natural disasters. Remember the big flood in Pakistan and China? People there are suffering day-by-day hunger.

Since there are really a extreme shortage of food, WFP provides such food to feed them, and prevent them from malnutrition. Check them out.

Fortified blended food. Cereals blended with milk.

Micro-nutrients powder, to be sprinkled onto home-made food to provide more vitamins and minerals.

High-power biscuits. A bit like "Tiger biscuits" in Malaysia. Haha =D

Compressed food bars. Used when local food can't be produced nor distributed.

Ready-to-use supplementary food. First given when disaster broke out to treat moderate malnutrition. NOTE: This is NOT ice-cream cups :P

Also ready-to-use food. These are peanut-based with milk.

Date bars. Energy-filled snack.

The food basket. Some grains, salt, oil and soy blend. Indispensable when disaster strikes.

And of course there are efforts to push for local productions and distributions of food supply. Lot's more.

Thanks to KFC, I get to know this meaningful program to help those in hunger. I realized I just cannot turn a blind eye on this issue.

Therefore, I would sincerely ask ALL OF YOU to contribute your part by clicking the blue banner at the right bar. I have personally contributed USD1 for this cause.

A bicycle ride back home, the kampung (village) way

It's always the best to cycle back home, especially after having a lavish meal at KFC.

I always use the kampung (village) small roads to go back home. As it was much nearer and shorter compared to the main road. Here here it goes.

The old, rusty but still tough bridge, crossing over the Perlis river.

It says that it is "closed", but it's still opened, just that the signboard remains there.

The bridge is not too far away from the Straits of Malacca. There is the Fishery pier, and behind it is the jetty to Langkawi Island.

For first timer, the windy and zig-zag roads will certainly get him nuts. After 2 years living here, I memorize the road going to and fro town by heart. Hehe.

So, back to the main road, and cycle back home.

There's an instant cure for sleepiness in lectures

In a very boring lecture session...

Especially during the afternoon lectures, added with a not-really-interested mood and low stamina, sleepiness is very much not-welcomed involuntary reaction.

Sometimes you just can't help it. Or at very least, you will feel dizzy, feeling the stars above your head...

Where everything just turns upside down. Game over.

But wait, there's always an instant cure. And I tell you, it's 100% working.

CHEWING GUMS! Chewing Extra gums doesn't only clean your mouth, but also cures sleepy heads in no time. Chew one, and boom, it's gone!

And, it's better to spend 1 or 2 bucks on chewing gums per lecture, than failing in exams, right?

A BIG RED reminder to myself

Cheap dinner under the moonlight

Last night I had my dinner outdoors in Kangar. Without a single roof top on my head.

This stall is located around the compound of KWSP building, where many UniMAP students loiter around.

I believe this stall has been here for YEARS. Since I wanna try something local and quite sick with KFC (yeah that's fake), I just decide to have a seat there.

It is completely OUTDOORS.

Plastic tables and chairs are just put out under the moon. Picture up there suggests that no one likes here, but actually it was because many Muslim friends were praying at the mosques at that time.

Little do, I was disappointed that the stall does NOT have rice. Only Malay-style char kueh tiao. Upon the desperate calling of howling stomach, I just ordered away la. Why think so much...

To be honest, it was not the tastiest nor the best dining experience. The gravy was hot enough. The kueh tiao was OK, but the prawns were really terribly not fresh. I nearly puked.

However, for 3.2 bucks for it and ice water, it was still just OK. Maybe there's some better deals out there, it's still almost half price that KFC after all. I still could buy a tasty bun from bakery nearby. :)

Some cats in KWSP building, Kangar

CATS are a very common creatures to present in KWSP building (where it houses my university's library), Kangar. You can see them wandering almost everywhere here!

Even though they might not have an owner to look after them, and yet they looked fantastically clean (at least from the appearance la).

Out of intense "nothing-to-do", I just manage to snatch 2 cats which really caught my eye.

Looking and watching out for any leftover food from the restaurant nearby. No need to look at me. Haha.

She's looking at me, trying to flirt me and my camera. She did well. I really like her! Hehehe! =D

Of course, they're way too much to capture around the area. Just show you the 2 of my favourites. :)

Oh ya, maybe another one.

Oops? Haha. I am still well and OK. Just OK maybe. Life has to go on.

KFC Hot & Spicy Shrimp

Shrimps has always been in the radar for KFC. Since their heart-shaped shrimp nuggets debuted in February, now they come out with Hot & Spicy Shrimp.

In a nutshell, the shrimps are cooked together with the same coating as the famous Hot & Spicy fried chicken. 2 in 1.

So in reality, it looked a bit like this.

Fried shrimp actually? Haha. They tasted not bad. Juicy, succulent, prawn-flavoured. If you love prawns, you will love it for sure.

As it's priced at a hefty 5++ bucks, I think I will only eat this once. I tried this just for the sake of trying something new. Hmmm

So, just keep eating. Eat first, think later. Just please don't be a glutton.

My “temporary office”

I really frustrated to be denied access to lab to do my project. It officially makes me achieved ALMOST NOTHING in my project progress for this week.

Feeling so pathetic, but still don’t really want to go back home, I set up my “temporary office” just above the lab.

Nothing fancy, just a laptop with Maxis Broadband on a pretty big table, radio through my mobile phone and high-power ceiling fan above it. Yeah a lot of chairs there but there’s only me alone here.

If you can see properly, my “work” now is Facebook-ing again. Damn la. Sigh…

How I wish I can have GCB now to cure BOTH my hungry body and soul… Hmmm…

In addition, I have to follow my Muslim friends to fast as well (except drinking water) because I simply running out of money.

That’s all from me today. I shall take baby steps to progress everyday then. Slow and steady. No options really.

This is a pretty new concept store in Perlis, and there’s one branch specially for the people (and students) in Kuala Perlis.

It’s just a stone’s throw away from my computer lab. From the outside it’s quite obvious that it’s providing Poslaju courier services.

Besides that, they also provides prepaid top ups, bill payments, broadband application, personal financing, insurance and so much more.

Pretty much like a privatised “post office” la.

The best thing is that I can online there, FOR FREE. Once again I get to enjoy the supreme FAST internet experience. Haha.

Back to university life & Chicken Arabbiata

Rest assured, even though I have been long since I last updated anything here, I am still alive.

Just that now I am in Perlis. Trying really hard to make ends meet academically in this last semester.

Trying hard as well to understand even more mind-boggling stuffs about microcontroller.

Not to mention that I have to take on a difficult final semester project. Whatever it is, I still have to weather the storm. No options.

I did try to enjoy life here though.

Few days ago, I went to Pizza Hut to satisfy my glutton again. But I didn’t eat pizza there. I ate rice.

It’s part of the still-affordable Sensasi Delight personal set meals. It feature a main dish (pizza, pasta or rice), bread sticks, soup and Pepsi.

All for RM9.80. STILL very much affordable, even though it could be much cheaper to eat at nearest mamak stall.

Just keep going on. With God’s grace and providence, I can overcome almost everything.

So, I took him, and I absolutely had NO MERCY.

WHAT THE DUT AM I DOING?

Am I doing plastic surgery or something? Destroyed the “baby’s” face?

Or maybe indeed I am doing plastic surgery. To try to dismantle, clean up, and reassemble his face.

Looks like I won’t become a good daddy in the future. Hmmm

Alone at Big Apple

I am at Big Apple Donuts and Coffee, here in Parkson Miri.

I come here to pass my time since there’s free WiFi available here. Of course it’s not as good as my home’s Streamyx, but it’s free and yeah, whatever…

I am actually running away from the Dance and Humanity at Indoor Stadium. My brother is working as volunteers there, and I don’t like to watch alone. So I elect to come here.

My “bookie table”

Since the kickoff of 2010 FIFA World Cup, people keeps talking about betting on football. A lot of people watching is not for the football, but for the money.

Well, I also have a “bookie station” at my very home comfort.

With air-conditioned room, and TV right beside me, while I am “taking orders” online, with tasty drinks as well. How comfortable is this. Hahaha… This is only possible when TV1 broadcast games live.

For those majority games which is not on RTM, then my “station” will look something like this.

This time is internet streaming to the rescue. If I have the luck, I can view games through Astro b.player, which could be very good or very bad.

Of course, this is just a joke la. Come on, betting is never good. With how the World Cup is going on, it’s just plain stupid to bet on any team.

Just enjoy watching football, that’s enough. :)

World of Football 2010 Limited Edition USB Modem

In conjunction of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, Celcom is giving out free limited edition modems for new broadband customers.

And I happen to be one of them.

I subscribed 3.6Mbps broadband package. Which entitles me to this free modem. Which also makes me “bleed” 98 bucks every month. Damn.

To be honest, actually I am tricked by someone in the forum. At first I thought it will be 50 bucks per month. So I gladly signed up. Who knows that 50 bucks is the upfront payment ONLY.

The only good thing is that 1st month bill is settled, and I can opt to terminate it before the 2nd billing period starts.

One more thing. I am really surprised that only by using this modem, I can detect HSPA signals in Miri!

Well, OK, I admit it frequently changes from 3G to HSPDA back and forth. But before that, it’s impossible to get HSPDA signals using my CSL modem.

That’s my old black CSL modem. I am willing to sell it at reasonable price if there’s anyone interested. Hmmm

So, the long dilemma begins now. Is Celcom really The Right One?

Penang 2010 Part 3: Butterfly Farm, Teluk Bahang

Teluk Bahang is located at the north-west of the Penang Island. One of the most famous place of interest is none other than Butterfly Farm.

The entrance fee for Malaysian adults with MyKad is 10 bucks. A big brochure and map is given. It’s really needed because it’s a big farm.

Once you get it, you will be overwhelmed by how much butterflies are inside the enclosure!

I also found butterflies really like and get attracted to hibiscus petals. These petals are placed to attract butterflies to enable us to get good shots. Haha

It also has a special air-conditioned room to showcase preserved butterfly samples. And also perfect for me since that time was so hot.

After some more shopping in souvenir shop, I left Butterfly Farm with good satisfaction. I can say it blasted my mind pretty well. Haha.

So I walked a little further to this.

This is the entrance to Forest Park. It’s kind of subdued and dead. Nobody is in there. And it’s impossible for me to go the the jungle at that time.

So I left, boarded a mini Rapid Penang bus to Balik Pulau, a town on the western side. All for the sake of wanting to go round the island.

The bus is cute, isn’t it?

The bus approaches the Teluk Bahang dam, which I believe stores the water supply for the entire Penang Island.

Certainly it looks good from the bus. Maybe a little bit boring?

The north-western road is rough and twisty. Not to mention extremely narrow. Not much people and cars here as well.

So, I waved Teluk Bahang good bye with really good memories of this quiet, little place.

In all honesty, Balik Pulau is a boring little town. Just had this nasi kandar in a chain restaurant near to bus terminal, before boarding another bus to Georgetown.

This cost me around 7 bucks, Coke included. Expensive, but very very delicious. :)

Penang Part 1: Toy Museum madness

My first stop when I was at Penang is at Toy Museum. I'd rate it as a must-visit for everyone.

The toy collection inside is simply mind-blowing. One simply has to wonder where on earth the owner can come out with such toys to be displayed. Simply fantastic.

Due to too much photos taken, I cramped all photos I have taken there, and made a slide show for your viewing pleasure.

I didn't even to take all photos because the batteries simply couldn't hold on! Sigh

Go there, and feel like a kid all over again. :)

FYI, Toy Museum is located in Tanjung Bungah, and can be reached through Rapid Penang bus number 101 (really frequent bus), 102, or 104. Opening hours is at 9am to 6pm daily. Tickets for adults are 10 bucks for Malaysian Adults with MyKad. 20 bucks for non-Malaysian. :)

For only 2 bucks, I can get a perfect lunch. Long beans, spicy kangkung and gravy on top of white rice. Simply fantastic. It just keeps BOTH my tummy and wallet happy!

Of course, coffee is not included. Hehehe. And look, I am not using polystyrene box as well. I am very phobia to use that “white rubbish.” Haha

I wish all my meals can be this cheap. I know there’re places that have even cheaper price, and yet can get more food!

Perlis is where you can get cheap street foods everywhere. 100% guaranteed. :)

I wanna McDonald’s

This morning, from out of a sudden, I was craving for McDonald’s very much. The M word popped out from my mind, just like that.

Perlis is the only state in Malaysia that has NO McDonald’s. A lot of outstation students, especially from the big cities kept complaining about this. Most of us, having no choice, chose KFC, Pizza Hut or Secret Recipe for restaurant food.

A word of notice, I am not that rich. I just want to have some variety in my food. That’s all.

I specifically crave McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Cheeseburger. Looks so yummy.

Then again, at McDonald’s, you won’t get the burger as advertised on newspaper or billboards. Normally you will only get about 1/3 of the size you see on TV or internet.

Ah, whatever, what the heck. I could stand the temptation anymore. So after my test, I cycled to nearest KFC to buy Zinger Burger.

Then I brought it all the way back home.

Wooo yum yum… But then again, I don’t really get what I see. There’s too few salad vegetables hmmm.

My receipt. Zinger cost me 6 bucks. Ouch, but still cheaper than major McDonald’s burgers.

Anyway, I would love to have McDonald’s anytime soon, but I am in no rush. :)

My MUET slip

I just received my Malaysian University English Test (MUET) registration slip from hostel management office. To be honest, I am very eager to know the dates and where I am going to have the daunting test.

I opened it without further ado. Yes, I am certainly excited LOL

So here are the details of the exams. Thankfully, I am going to have my speaking test at May 4th, which is before the date that I have booked my flights home. Phew really relieved.

Furthermore, the school where I am going to have my test is also not that far away. Probably a bike ride will get me there already. Hmmm

To be honest, I have done NOTHING AT ALL for my MUET. I am thinking my former F6 classmates have to prepare for about a year for MUET, and yet it’s about 3 weeks before MUET and I have done absolutely nothing.

What the heck…

I have bought this MUET book since 2008, before I went to Form 6. It’s with me now here, but till now I have yet to really take a read from it. I am such a bad bad student. :(

Anyway, I will just do it. :)

My favourite lunch place

My timetables for this semester is pretty packed, from morning all the way till evening. Thus I have no choice but to have my lunch somewhere near my school.

This post is somehow like a tribute to my really favourite eating stalls to have lunch. Here is it.

Ya, we call this stall Ayam Percik stall. It is famous around this area for it’s grilled chicken with special sauce.

Say anything about the potential hazards of grilled food, I just like it very much. I would be delighted if I can have grilled chicken heart or liver, because they just taste damn good.

A piece of chicken like this cost 2 bucks. I just can’t find this anywhere as, well, at least in Kuala Perlis area.

So basically my typical lunch will be like this. A piece of chicken, and some other dishes available there.

Ya, the above seems to reveal that I am very carnivorous, but sadly there were not much edible vegetables that time. Such lunch cost me 4 bucks, sometimes lower. Still, not too bad for me. KFC is even more expensive. :P

I think I should explore more street foods here, and limit myself from going to KFC too much. Hahaha :)

Kuala Perlis public library

Few days ago I made a visit to Kuala Perlis public library just to kill off my waiting time of my next lecture. It’s just a stone throw away from my school actually.

From the outside, it does look quite big, a bungalow library. However, it’s not that big in the inside.

That’s just about the size of the adult’s section at upstairs. Kids’ section at downstairs and I am not interested about it. Hehe…

As you can see above, not much books are there with 3++ open-book shelves. The English books collection is rather limited as well. Hmmm

Nevertheless, it is a perfect place for those school students to come here by bicycles and study in groups.

Just like this. They had some enclosed discussion rooms. However, it’s not allowed for both genders to mix here. It means boys and girls are not allowed to sit together anywhere in the library.

“Lelaki sahaja.” Boys only in this table. Girls are other side. This is applicable practice in all libraries in Perlis.

I know their good intention to prevent fornications, but I just hope their good won’t result into more gays and lesbians. Hmmm…

Even so, some don’t care about it.

These are the reference collections, which is not allowed to be borrowed out. It’s such as shame because majority of good books are here.

As for me, my visit there is just this.

To read that Reader’s Digest for FREE. I don’t need to pay 15 bucks to buy Reader’s Digest anymore. Hehe :p

In a nutshell, I like to drop by this library just to get some air-conditioned and exercise my mind. :)

Note that it’s actually not permitted to take photos inside the library. I didn’t get any permission either. So, whatever, catch me if you want to. :)

Fooling around at Kangar

I was at Kangar this morning right after the Sunday Mass.

For those who are really poor in Geography, Kangar is the capital town of the state of Perlis, in the far north of Malaysian Peninsular.

It was a bright morning. What I did hear was just fooling around and snap some photos. Nothing else but to revive my blog and keep myself occupied. :)

Obviously I need to get a bank to get some cash to survive this week. I just hope I won’t overspend again this time hmmm.

But wait, look at these…

Somebody sitting there with a donation box. This made me remember of my Red Crescent days during flag sale. But he didn’t ask anyone to donate. Just sit there, play messaging, relaxing away hmmm… But it’s really for a good cause la.

It also makes me remember Penang Diocese recent Lenten Campaign theme – Love Your Neighbour. To do more charitable works.

I wish I can help out too even though different in religion. Sadly my wallet is just too tight, and no small change inside. Duh me…. :(

Ah whatever. I went inside the bank I saw another shocker.

Aiyoyo why in such a messy wetness??!! The floor is stinking wet! And look closely to the dustbin…

EWWW!!!! Can’t you have any better ways to contain leaked water other than using the dustbin!!! Oh please… make my cash-getting experience so bad.

Supermarkets in Kangar are quite strange. Let me tell you why.

We all know that major supermarkets provide deposit service for us customers to put in our belongings before entering their place. Yes, it’s available in Kangar too.

However, this service is CHARGEABLE in 2 major supermarkets in Kangar. :(

What the heck.

I don’t know what cost those supermarkets so much to provide this service free of charge. This means that even though I only deposit in this small plastic bag due to their rules…

… I have to pay them 1 buck. ONE FREAKING BUCK. Not happy but what can I do. I just don’t carry any bags if I need to shop. Whatever.

It’s already been an open secret that water shortages has always been a constant problem in my hostel.

And I think I know why. Look at this water tank just outside my hostel.

There’s a leak there FOR FAR TOO LONG. I wonder if they have any bad feeling of wasting water because water just leaks out DAY AND NIGHT! Continuously all the freaking time!!

For goodness sake, the earth does not have enough clean water supply already. To add wound the salt, now is STILL the draught season where it’s all dry and hot. Any more water supply disruption (other than the one that could solve this problem ONCE AND FOR ALL) will be very very unwelcomed. Students are not happy.

Somebody gotta fix this problem. I just cannot bear to see the water leak out any longer. PLEASE.

KFC Colonel Briyani rice

I am always a fan of KFC, and when I heard this new product from the radio, I just can’t wait to try it.

Colonel Sander showing off the new product. I am actually more excited because this is the 1st time KFC introduce something new for their rice menu. We as Asians should always eat rice, not freaking potatoes.

As you can see from the suggested servings, it consists of a piece each of original and spicy fried chicken, a spice soup, Coke, rice and an alarm clock, all for about 15 bucks. You can opt not to have alarm clock for about 10 bucks.

Hmmm however I chose to take Jom Jimat Set A (which only cost RM6.20 so damn cheap) since the rice is there as well!

Here is it!

The rice is certainly more dark yellow than before. Surprisingly it’s also so nice to eat! One can feel the spices’ aroma when the rice is in the mouth. Coupled with coleslaw and chicken, it’s simply fantastic!

I would say this is a definite thumb up from KFC after too many overpriced new products. Go Go KFC! Haha :)

P as in Probationary Driving License (Lesen Percubaan) in Malaysia. Finally after 2 years needing that P sticker to cover myself, I am out of it. Yes.

It means much more responsibility I have to bear while I am on the road. Luckily, in Perlis I don’t really get to drive. I changed the license because I need to drive yesterday. Certainly I didn’t want to get caught!

OK, time to get busy with the things I am supposed to do. Projects are biting me an awful lot.

No matter how it is, I just gotta strive hard, just I have strived hard to get my driving license. :)

Bulls and cows attack?

Yesterday I saw this amusing scene from my balcony.

Out of a sudden, so many cows, bulls and calves surround the poor little house there. Seems like there are police, demanding the people to give them grass to eat.

See how barren is the land and so few green grass available. No wonder they become angry. We better don’t burn so much.

Despair for UniMAP

No, I am not talking about UniMAP’s failure for any major tournament whatsoever. I am talking about it’s very internal problem about NOT GETTING COURSES AUTHENTICATED by relevant authorities!

I was so shocked when I see a link shared by my fellow friend at UniMAP to only see this.

This is at KOSMO online today.

16 undergraduate courses out of 18 are NOT certified. It is really a shame.

As far as I am concerned, the only 2 courses which are certified are Computer Engineering and Microelectronic Engineering. All 6 diploma courses are also certified. Others? NOT YET. And nobody will know when it will ever be certified.

I have no idea whether this students’ fault, or staffs’ fault. Maybe everyone, from top to bottom should be responsible for this. STOP doing so many useless programs and CONCENTRATE more on studies please.

Yes, it’s heard that employability of UniMAP’s graduate are quite high, but it will be certainly better to have the courses certified so that the graduates are CERTIFIED as well!

In this situation, it only serves UniMAP as a very BAD advertisement.

Pan Pacific Hotel, KLIA (around lobby only)

While I was waiting for my next flight, I decided to go take a long walk to this 5-star, award-winning, and well-known airport hotel, the Pan Pacific KLIA.

The main entrance. The automatic door is seriously huge. What you don’t see here is OVERWHELMINGLY MANY limousines parked here. Seriously, a lot!

So here goes my pictures, shot at places I can go. Sadly, no rooms to go, sigh…

It’s very funny that I was constantly greeted by staffs here. When I first step into this hotel, there’s a concierge approached me, smiled and asked, “Good morning sir. How can I help you?”

I was totally bewildered and, despite getting blushed, have to politely clarified that I came just to look around, and remind them I am NOT their guest. (An intruder, maybe? Haha)

Buggy cars. I was offered a buggy ride because an unknowing hotel driver thinks I am a guest (again!). I simply had to turn down his offer, though I must say it must be feeling good to sit on it FOR FREE kekeke….. :P

So all those for your reading pleasure. Those were only the tip of the iceberg because there were so much more facilities offered. Never mind, let it be, hopefully one day I can live in there. Haha :)

When I was at Sibu for CNY

As with recent years, I have to go through Chinese New Year in Sibu, known as the Swan Town.

I never like being at Sibu anyway. The grandparents’ house I lived there was literally like this, all cramped up because 2 families slept there.

It was like this during the day. When approaching the CNY, firecrackers and fireworks were a norm.

Even though this year the number of firecrackers and fireworks went down significantly, the still bearable noise is heard all over town.

No choice, I just got on with it.

Situation at Sacred Heart’s Cathedral, with Bishop Su celebrating the Sunday Mass. Really a lot of people.

After Mass, we went off the visit my bed-ridden grandmother. She was placed in this day-care center, near Sibu Medical Center.

My parents try to pronounce those names…

My cousin Henry, keeps tagging me along without me asking for it…

THAT was the situation when everyone was sleeping. Shot taken around 3am. With my size, it’s practically impossible for me to sleep anywhere, except on that massage chair.

And here’s where I had a little place to get online, while I get myself some cans of drinks. It’s very hard to sleep. Sigh.

Yeah, maybe I have overemphasised on my negatives in Sibu. Yes, I do meet some of my awesome cousins, I do received many red packets, but yet some of the family problems there still making me counting my days to go back to my hometown.

Ah, whatever, it’s gone already, move on.

I have been playing Farmville for several months. I started playing this since my friends in my class were buzzing about Farmville.

I can’t stand the temptations, then I jumped into Farmville bandwagon. From a small farm, I got myself a 24 x 24 Mighty Farm at my disposal.

Since I am damn boring, I might just as well post some photos here la, for you all to see my “effort”. LOL!

Pigs, chickens, sheeps, goats, cows… All here. :)

Greatest asset in Farmville – Villa is here, along side with barns, sheds, windmills and workshop.

Got farm house, post office, grocery shop, cottage with cats…

LOOOOOOONG WAIT

With a very heavy heart to save myself from further financial troubles, I had to drag myself to Bank Islam at Kangar to withdraw some life-saving funds to sustain myself.

To my horror, this is the number that is given to me.

Walao eh, given number 1285, but now only serving number 1250 something??!

More ridiculously, with so many people queuing, there were only 2 counters opened! =.= Having no choice, I had to sit there waiting for about 45 minutes. 45 frustratingly long minutes.

See I am so not patient. *ashamed*

That’s why I say, I live in 2 totally different places, though still in the same country.

Take Bank Islam for example. In Miri, all counters in a row are opened and serving customers in lightning speed, but there’s few customers. I remember I even managed to open a bank account for my brother in just less than 10 minutes, and we were the very last customer for the day. Not to mention a staff there know how to speak Chinese. :P

But in Kangar, though with many customers, only 1/3 of the counters are opened, and it’s freaking slow! AAAHHH…

I wonder anyone out there ever had the same experience as me? Waiting some 30 or more turns in front of you? Hmmm…

Whatever, I get my life-saving money out, rant a big here, and get over it. No big deal. Life goes on.

Overpriced stuff I bought

A couple of days ago, despite how much I hate to buy it at super ridiculous price, I JUST HAVE TO BUY IT.

Yes, ink cartridges. This pack cost me 135 bucks. Ouch, even more expensive than the printer itself! (I kept reminding myself about this damn fact!) AAHHH…

What’s more frustrating, I could already paid TWICE that amount due to the credit card blunder by the bank. I really want my money back! GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!!

Ah, emotional unstable now. Sorry.

Malaysia – Thailand north-western border

Excuse me, I am not talking about the famous border crossings, like Padang Besar, Wang Kelian, Bukit Kayu Hitam etc… none of them.

I am now showing you the real border, dividing 2 countries. Thailand at the north, Malaysia at the south.

I cycled to the border area few days ago. Here are some pictures that I have braved myself to shoot. :)

Trying to be hardworking

I am in UniMAP smaller library now. It’s feeling very chilly here.

Recently I have always want to go to library. I find it easier to study here with a lot of books available here.

As mentioned, this is a smaller library, containing only light-reading materials such as novels, story books and so on. I like this library better because it’s always empty like what you have seen up there. Less people, more enjoyment, more breathing space. :)

However, it’s not easy to just study. With fast internet access here (yes, even faster than Celcom Broadband), I cannot help but to surf the Net and Facebook. Again.

I constantly find myself looking at the screen at longer times than reading the book! Ah Facebook and MSN! Haha normal la…

I just try my best to study la. That’s what I am supposed to do now.

One more thing to note though…

Where is the librarian? WHERE?

The answer is…

In front of the TV!! Haha gotcha! I also caught some counter librarians playing Facebook games and watching movie at the bigger library also.

Haha! See, staffs or students, we’re just ALL THE SAME!

Pity them la. They need to work until 2300 everyday, also need some entertainment la. :p

Whatever it is, I just wanna strive harder. The greatest enemy is indeed ME MYSELF.

New toy before the New Year

Yesterday I bought myself something very major in my life. With my very own savings.

It’s my first ever on-the-road vehicle I buy in my life. :)

BICYCLE! Yeah! Equipped with big front basket, and back compartment, just suits me. One possible drawback is that it’s a single-speed. Hmmm

I have always wanted to buy a bike since my lecture rooms and laboratories are too near for to go by bus, and yet too far to walk. Furthermore, I can use that to exercise. :)

So I bought this bicycle from a specialized bicycle shop in Kuala Perlis.

This shop, only sells bicycles and anything related to it, and nothing else. Look at this!

And it’s nearing the end of school holidays, so the boss was busy selling and repairing bicycles. Kids there go to school on themselves on bicycle, not like my hometown kids and us university students *ashamed face*.

The boss also promised me free services whenever I visit his shop. True enough, when I discover that the back tyre is punctured, he helped me to change the tyre tube. :)

Boss’ nephew helped to change the tyre tube, now install the back tyre back into position.

That’s the boss. Very helpful in my first impression. However, when I first walked into his shop with my shirt and laptop bag, he thought that I am a salesman! LOL!

So what a toy it is before the New Year! Yes, I had more body pains now, but anything la to make me healthier, more freedom and a greener Earth! Hahaha!

Coffee on board, stranded at airport

I was flying again yesterday, back to campus, which now I called it a “jail.”

As always, MAS is the FAR better choice and I was content by their services.

Even their coffee, sugar and creamer are top class. And the best of all, you don’t need to PAY MORE for it. :)

However, despite all the flying fun, I was made stranded in darkness when I arrived at Alor Star airport.

This is because of misunderstanding between me and the taxi driver. He thought that I told him to fetch him from hostel to airport at 9pm, whereas I want him to do the exact opposite! Duh my fault *cover my face*

Yes, stranded in all darkness. Since my flight was the last of the day, thus airport is closed after some 30 minutes after arrival. Mosquitoes have spotted me as a delicious “hunting place.” Kinda sad and disappointed to wait like that in darkness.

The good thing is, I was not really alone that time. There’s another Malay aunty waiting for as long as me too. So together with the trolley uncle, I just listen and talk just to kill off the time.

Hmmm… then an hour later, uncle taxi finally reached airport, and it took me another an hour to reach “jail.”

Ah I just take this as a lesson la… there comes a new semester, hope I can do better this time.

Crabs at Sibu

I just reached Sibu because my Dad forced my family and I to go Sibu to visit my sick grandparents. I just have to follow grudgingly because IT IS AN ORDER.

Just now we had some CRABS in Sibu. Crabs are one of the favourite food in Sibu, I must say.

So we went to this restaurant to have our dinner to get some crab. Located near bus terminal, that restaurant is one of the famous ones in Sibu serving crabs and pork legs.

My parents only have the mood to eat crabs, so no pork legs this time. Look how mouth-watering is that! There are 2 kilos of crabs!

I admit I am not that crab-craving guy la because it’s so hard to eat. One also need to use FORCE to crack off their hard shells to get their little, but high-cholesterol meat.

Use HAMMER, you know? Hammer?

Arguably, crabs are the ones that can turn a table into a total messy “war zone”.

My bro ate these many crabs. These photos are from his phone camera too hehe.

So look at the “war zone”. We are the conquerors of the crabs LOL

And these are the total price of the dinner. 111 bucks, ouch. That hurts. Hmmm..

Hope I can have pork legs in the next few days. If so, I will be get less angry lo. :)

Bento

I mean Japanese Bento set at Sushi King. I don’t know why recently I am just so crazy about Japanese food and also Sushi King (despite all those negative reviews about them in Miri).

So the Bento looked like this.

For some 16 bucks (lame service charge and tax excluded of course), I can have some rice, a bit fresh vegetables with lime, pickles, unagi fish, chicken, omelette, prawns, and so many stuffs, packed with rice in this kind of cute box. Ah, that Mat Kool ice cream as well.

At first glance, I felt that it might just looked like a on-board flight food!

Is it worth it? Well I think it’s OK and suit my budget well. I also felt quite full (not really 100%) after having that bento. Having it with friends also adds to my satisfaction. :)

Hope I can have Sushi King again before I leave Miri next week. Huhu…

VIP treatment?

My brother and I went to watch the movie “2012” a couple of days ago. As always, I parked my car at Civic Center (better known as Dewan Suarah) in order to save parking coupons. Hehe…

So off we went to watch movies and had some fun. When I come back, both of us are so amazed that this happens to our car.

Whoa, I never expect somebody to actually pitch a tent above my car! Maybe they think that my car will be overheated, and the driver will be very uncomfortable or something else. Hey man, I really appreciate that! Haha!

On the other hand, I would like to share a quite bad experience at Sushi King Miri.

Since my parents were not at home, my brother and I again went to Sushi King for our Sunday lunch. Having that good experience before at Penang and Miri, I expect another good experience here.

NO, I WAS WRONG. The restaurant was damned packed that we were lucky not to queue for our seats.

So both of us sat on the bar-style seat, where we’re supposed to get the sushi on the conveyor belt easily. Again, I WAS WRONG.

See how empty it is! Can hardly to choose anything! :(

The same story here. Can see a glimpse of the boss who had a very hard time arranging the customers, plus yelling those Japanese words of “Welcome”, “Thank you” etc. Aren’t Sushi King employees supposed to yell those too? I remember the people of Sushi King Queensbay Mall kept yelling Japanese all the time. Haha!

See how la, I believe this is just one of those days. Probably I am going to eat there again during low peak times. Hehe… wanna join me? :)

Jambu – very good :)

My mum harvested some jambu (rose apple in English, but let’s just call it jambu) in the wilderness somewhere behind my house compound.

Erm, not some, but for me, it’s quite a lot. Hehe…

Not including some more to be harvested in the future. There’s still so damn more on the tree. :)

I really like this fruit la because it’s one of the juiciest fruit you can find on planet earth. Plus, you can eat it just like that! No skinning at all required. Sometimes, you can just pluck it and eat it! Hehe…

Jambu is one of the my favourite fruits of all time. After all, I am constantly ordered to EAT EAT EAT FRUITS AT ALL TIME by my mum. If jambu or mangoes, I take it gladly. If like durians, papaya, I feel really sick and grudgingly eat them. I am so choosy hmmm…

BLOODY, BLOODY Movie

Shalom! Since I was too bored and trying to avoid another afternoon nap, I went off to see a movie with my friend at Star Cineplex, Miri.

Seriously, it’s been really a while since I last went into cinema. Haha! The movie I watched in NINJA ASSASSIN, starring Korean superstar RAIN.

Look at his muscular muscles which I never going to have huhuhu…

To be serious, one really need to be brave to watch this movie, because from start to finish, there is BLOOD, BLOOD and MORE BLOOD (till a very ridiculous stage, I think).

The plot says a young man, Raizo, who tried to break away from the assassin-clan of Onuzu due to the clan leader has killed his teenage sweetheart and did not want to kill good people anymore.

His breakaway is considered a betrayal, so there are always big fights between him alone, and the entire clan who wanna kill him.

Another take on Rain, preparing to fight fight fight…

With the help of the heroine, Mika (a forensic researcher) and her Europol agency, they try to hunt down the Onuzu assassin clan and leader, with their own lives at stake….

I remembered the show’s famous saying “I know you have a special heart” from Raizo. Haha so touching LOL

I think it’s a good movie la, 100% action-packed, adrenaline pumping, certainly worth my 10 bucks, but seriously, you need guts to see it. Hehe…

Delayed flight DELIGHT :)

This is my face when I was on board MH2598, on my way back to my hometown, Miri.

Yeah, lame, angry because this flight was delayed its take-off by almost 1 hour.

The reasons? Late arrival of aeroplanes. Not to mention the cabin crew were late as well. At first I was very disappointed and I look like that.

Until I was served this…

ICE CREAM! Not just any ice cream, it’s Baskin Robin’s ice cream! Wow! That’s certainly a welcomed surprised for me! Haha! All my frustration gone in a flash.

Not to mention their, as always, top class service of Malaysian Hospitality. Everything that I requested was given! Peanuts, more orange juice, whatever, all given! Talk about “ask and you shall be given” ! Hahaha!

Yeah, I won’t forget this very first moment of enjoying ice cream on board. And it’s only with Malaysia Airlines domestic! Hehe!

Altera Penang Trip after exam

Sincerely I would really love to thank my School of Computer and Communication Engineering of UniMAP to organize such trip at the end of this semester.

It’s really a welcome move for us after such a hectic semester, even though they know our batch maybe is not the best students they have. Furthermore, this industrial exposure trip prevented me to join a very dreadful camp. Haha

So all started off at 0630 hours at Friday, December 20th, 2009.

We were so disappointed because we were told to be on time, and yet the officials were not on time. We waited for an hour here for nothing.

My friend Zaim has his own first class seat at the back of the bus, a flat-bed for himself! Haha!

We started to get crazy.

So off goes the 2-hour journey.

Managed to take a sneak peek of our new permanent campus near Perlis – Kedah border. It’s very far from any towns. Like being in a jungle.

After 2 hours, we reached Penang island and to my big amusement, we went to Queensbay Mall first. Really surprised.

So, whatever, we just played there for another 3 hours.

Start off with Mcdonalds, that ice cream only cost 1 buck. :)

After some more roaming, I went to Sushi King.

I would say this Sushi King is very cool. I can call a waiter, even the boss, almost anytime and very easily! My green tea cup was always filled up to the brim. Great service!

This is one of the premium ones, with a lot of salmon and the fish eggs. Hehehe….

So after all those playing, we made our way to Altera in a big industrial estate.

In this building, we were ordered to wear shoe covers. I wonder why…

Then we had an awful long talk in the lecture room.

It was afternoon and sleepy heads were totally unavoidable. Just like this.

I was too sleepy too because the slides were really boring and very machine-like. Hmmm.

Luckily we have this guy coming out to cheer us and get us all fired up.

He showed us a lot of tools. And gave us a feel and touch them.

This small stuffs is actually can cost up to thousands of US dollars. A broken small pin and it’s gone. Don’t play play.

This 18-layer printed circuit board is probably cost as much as a car.

Ah, this one is cheap stuffs, hehehe…

This shows us how packaging and labelling is done in Altera. And that’s a long long long story.

After another talk, we were brought around to see the plant.

Altera is actually not a manufacturing company, but only to design, test products and send them to overseas to produce it, before selling them.

This is the place for engineers.

Their working cubicles are like this, very personal and I guess pretty comfortable. They have a lot of empty cubicles, so perhaps I can go here to work some day. :)

They also have gyms, good for everyone to exercise. :)

She’s our guide tour for our group. Not bad la, explain a lot of stuffs to us. I managed sneak in a picture hahaha…

This is the exciting part, but sadly we didn’t get to get in there. This is the testing factory where everything is tested.

Look they are doing their stuffs inside! Fantastic.

So the tour ended in just 15 minutes or so. Before we left, we took our only class photo of the semester. :)

Being with you guys are just great, you know, all of you made my days at university much better. :)

So, after crossing the Penang Channel, back to Perlis where boredom rules. LOL

So far it has been good holiday for me. Hehe I will talk about it later.

No. 1 thing at Padang Besar

I am pretty sad because I went to this border town for only 2 times a year. I would say this place is really an awesome place.

I said it’s an awesome place, but it’s not because of its shopping of Thai goodies.

Gapura Square, the main shopping arcade. Note it’s not air conditioned.

Gotta walk through these small lanes with unenthusiastic sellers. They didn’t seem urgent to sell their stuffs.

Also not because I can be fascinated by influx of Thai motorbikes.

Not also the presence of so-called duty free watch shop, which only sells hyper expensive watches (some are over 100K).

But this is where Padang Besar makes sense for its BORDER TOWN status.

YES, duty free complex which is located after Malaysian Checkpoint, before crossing the actual Thai border.

What’s even more important inside is THIS.

I CAN GET DIRT CHEAP LEGAL BEER. YES, you heard me right, 100% legal cheap beer!

Not only beer, the liquor section here is simply fantastic and freaking cheap!

Want a bottle of Chivas for less than 50 bucks? Find it here!

Wide selection of wines, whisky, brandy, gin, rum, you name them, all at really low prices!

For example, guess how much is this 500ml can of Heineken sold here?

FYI, it’s only sold for RM3.90! Walao eh! And I don’t think I can never find this at normal shops anywhere else!

That’s why I say, for me a beer freak (not really la, but close LOL), no.1 thing in Padang Besar, is surely BEER section at duty-free complex.

Probably because of that that earned my friends and I a free urine test by National Anti-Drugs Agency when we were going back. Hahaha!

OLD TOWN White Coffee, confirm BEST

Recently I had this luxury of trying out Old Town White Coffee. I had heard about this brand for such a long time, and when I saw it sold at 7-Eleven, I don’t even hesitate to buy a pack home.

One pack is sold at RM3.20, with ONLY 3 sticks inside. Hmmm… Sticks like this.

At first I thought it could be very expensive. However I realized that actually I made the damn right choice. One stick of Old Town is probably the same size of TWO Nescafe sticks added together! See how much is that!

By the time I emptied a stick, the coffee powder fills one-third (1/3) of my cup! Fuhlamak…

Then pour in hot water,

And there you go. A perfect mixture of Liberica, Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, added with a mix of steamed milk and cream, comes Old Town’s specialty with its distinctive taste, aroma and “kick.” Wow… confirm best! Hehehe…

Everyone should try this simply divine coffee. It surely won’t disappoint you. :)

My friend did something really weird to me. They tried to make me became a girl.

Seriously, I have thought for the whole night on whether want to publish the following pictures for you to see. It’s going to be so disgraceful and shameful to me. But whatever, I don’t mind, all for your viewing pleasure.

Yes, it may look like a familiar advertisement line seen on TV, just that now I put an extra question mark on it.

SNICKERS has been a premium imported chocolate bar, which is sold on almost all supermarkets and convenience store.

I have been craving it for very long, for no obvious reasons, and finally this morning I got a taste of SNICKERS.

It’s a chocolate bar, filled with nougats, nuts, caramels, so on so forth, which could make someone with a small hungry stomach full at anytime.

Contrary to the advertisements, the inside only looks like this.

Anyway, I must have to satisfy myself after forking out RM3.20 to buy this. YES, IT’S VERY PRICEY! Goodness be, why is it has to be so expensive? Can’t it be as cheap as Cloud 9 Classic? Hmmm…

It’s a very expensive Sunday All Saints Day, I have to say. Very sad.

Drive a BUS?

Yesterday I finally got the change to DRIVE A FREAKING BUS.

You know, handling that HUGE and heavy steering wheel, with my foot pressing the accelerating pedal very hard…

Attempting to press clutch and start shifting gears! And I have no idea what gear I want to shift into! LOL Look at my freaky face…

No idea how am I going to face the final exams from next Monday onwards. Truly no idea. I just wish time can fly by as fast as possible. It’s getting horrible

Orgasmic moment on my birthday

It’s no longer a secret that I went to Genting Highlands for my very own holiday trip.

I have planned this for quite a long time ever since I got my ULTRA CHEAP flight ticket few months ago.

This plan accelerates even more when I know of this very good package promotion, which is very cheap as well.

However, sadly, due to the Deepavali public holiday, all the rides in the theme park was like this.

I can tell you the lines are much more longer than you can ever imagine! And I only have limited time there, thanks to my blunder of not securing the bus tickets early! Ahhh!

So, I didn’t play these. So sad huhu :’(

Crazy space lab. Lot of people told me not to go there. Hmmm..

Cyclone! Need a partner to play this la…

Corkscrew! Looks scary enough. But not really hehehe…

Dinosaur land! Have no idea of what’s inside because it was clogged by so many people…

Bumper boats. Kids’ play. I loved it when I was small. :) But now cannot play because I am way too overweight. Huhu :(

FLYING COASTER!

I can reassure you, for me, even though I have pay extra 10 bucks for this, it’s the most thrilling ride Genting has to offer!

This flying coaster is something like this.

Maybe you can only hear the little shouts, but once you are up there, you gonna shout your heart out very very loud! WOW!

That really was my damn orgasmic experience up there! Hahaha!

Hereby I really want to thank all my friends for wishing me well in my birthday, whether in Facebook (majority from here LOL), SMS or pray for me, or simply don’t know anything about it, I really thank you all very very very much….

Heartiest BIG BIG thank you also to my 2 cousins in KL who threw me a very big treat at Subway and Burger King prior my travel to Genting Highlands, as well as assisting me when I was going to return hostel. Without both of you, this birthday could turn out to be a disaster. Hmmm…

Last but certainly not the least, I thank and praise God who have created me and given me life day after day. Unto his amazing grace I shall continue to live and hope on.

I just wish one day, I can be like this, up in the heavens.

At some time in the campus few days ago, I did something pretty bad. Till now it left a bad scar in my memory.

Look at the leg of that guy. If it really hits my that place, I can say byebye to everyone already. Absolutely woeful. Till now I don’t know why I got into this freaky fight.

LOL. By now you should know all this is just a funny “angry” pose. See my apparent smile up there? LOL It’s just a way to de-stress ourselves after such a hard day. Huhu….

New kind of Lab

Yesterday I attended a lab session which was quite different from all other labs.

This time we have to deal with some unfamiliar environments and lab equipments. To add salt to the wound, the confusing lab modules are not helping us at all.

This picture is just trying to give you an idea of how this lab had to be conducted. We have to be in a group of 6-7 people due to the limited space and quantities of the machines. So, the lab was in a mixture of hardworking, want-get-everything-right people and lazy, let-them-do-everything people.

Unfortunately, I was the latter kind of people, at first. Hehe… :p

Too blur until willing to put up a “cute” face for me. :)

He’s also like very blur, so just kneel on the chair to see us how to do.

Actually my group is among the pro inside the class. My group managed to get the assembly done really fast.

The technician examined the connection before allowing us to turn on the power supply.

There are others big machines in this lab as well. Actually, quite a lot of machines. Hmmm…

A big-sized transformer. Looks very dangerous and explosive.

Some more generators on the floor. For me, they looked like gas tongs. Or maybe fire extinguishers.

There are some of these DC motor cum generators available here too. This can either spin your head right round, or electrocute you till become “roasted human.” So, beware. :)

Last but not least is this handheld device.

This is to measure the RPM or a rotating/moving object. It is quite fun to use because it will shoot a beam of laser when you use it.

Anyway it was a good lab and glad to have this new experience. :) Hopefully can cope well with any labs coming in my way! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! :P

Very environmental-unfriendly event

In the recent propaganda talks organized by university last Saturday, foods are given free for all to eat. Which is good to everyone, considering how much we have to suffer inside that seminar hall.

Yes, I should be happy with it because I didn’t need to spend money. However, these sights concern me very much.

University is still resorting to use POLYSTYRENE as plates and cups. I don’t know if they are even aware of the environmental crisis, that our landfills are probably packed with hills of polystyrene.

See these cups over there! They’re probably only used ONCE. After that, they were into the bin. What a waste!

For plates, I even see people used them just to PAD the nasi lemak, which is already packed with WAX PAPER! That’s very ridiculous!

What to do, that’s their policy, I just gotta follow it, angry about it, and post my anger here. That’s all.

The cup in my hand is so short-lived to be used properly. But it takes forever to dispose it. :(

However, having said so, somebody made some smart use from those plates. Let me show you!

Ever since I have come to the Peninsular, ONE THING always catch my heart. It always makes me seek go after. I just too love it! AAAAhhh....

Gardenia Jagung!! OH how much I love you!!! Every time I see you, for sure I will want to buy 3 packs at once and EAT THEM ALL! LOL!

New Pacman - Waka Waka

Still remember this classic game?

For our generation, Pacman could be our very first computer game back in the late 90s when we first come to know what is a COMPUTER. Haha. The thrill of guiding and avoiding the ghosts and advance level is so freaking nice! Agree? Hehehe...

Now, somebody in Facebook has revived back this classic game, and give it a new name.

WAKA - WAKA!

Quite a funny name huh? It's called "Waka-waka" because when it eats the dots, The sound "waka waka waka waka" will come out! Funny!

Hehehe nevertheless it has added more features to make the classic Pacman even more fun! Hehehe...

You can see the maze is more complicated and more variety. See even the ghosts look so cute! LOL!

This is only the start of Level 1. So far I only reach Level 4, while somebody in my friend list played till Level 7. I really have to salute them la... Haha...

And they so dare to say me that I am "a few steps of being human." What a humiliation... LOL

Fantastic way to kill my time and a brilliant way to keep myself away from thinking too much and also studying well. LOL.

First touch on hardware

In digital lab yesterday afternoon, I was introduced to this kind of new hardware, which was like an alien to me.

This is called University Project training board, in a simpler way, it's also called UP board. It's a small board produced by Altera (a big company that computer students should know) so that we can prototype our logic design.

We need to program this freaking thing onto this board.

So many confusing lines, flip flops, logic gates, haiz... Seriously if you are not motivated enough to do this, you won't do this. Even with maximum motivation and strength, you still can get it very wrong.

Unfortunately, I failed this lab again, despite every effort to make it right this time. To be honest with everyone, I have failed ALL LABS in this subject. What the heck...

Let you see how chaotic it is in the lab. Everyone is having problems.

Lecturer is having a torrid time. He kept teach teach and teach everybody. He has every right to be disappointed with us. Haiz...

One of the few who can get it right, after so much attempts... But still looked very blur...

I just wish that the rest of this semester can hit a U-turn of fortune for me. Probably U-turn of attitude as well. Hmmm...

Didn't eat THIS for a LOOOOONG time

Ever since I left for studies, I have not eaten THIS for a very long time. Or rather, very seldom eat this delicacy. LOL

Guess what is this?

PORRIDGE!

Not just any porridge, it's home-cooked porridge! Added with minced pork, duck egg yolk and smooth purple rice! Fuhlamak damn nice!

However, it will turn even nice if added with the frills!

Eggs, pre-mix pork, peanuts, and anchovies. Put them all together and it will give you an awesome bowl of porridge! Hahaha!

Love my mum for cooking that wonderful porridge! Wow! Haha!

In my hotel room in KL

Trying to wind up my crazy half day at Kuala Lumpur. It was simply crazy.

I just stayed inside the comfy Tune Hotel room, online, and bought myself a can of Heineken. Added with good music from Mix FM through my mobile phone, it is very relaxing for me.

It was a very hectic day indeed. Totally opposite to this.

This area is called Medan Tuanku. Only till now at 3am it will become like this. Or else it will be jam-packed with cars, vehicles, motorcycles, you name them. I have seen with my own eyes cars clogging up the whole yellow box in the middle! Which make traffic police looks like headless chicken! LOL!

Not to mention that I spend quite a lot too today. Bought myself a new Digi SIM pack, Krispy Kreme doughtnuts (absolutely love them) and KFC. If I counted in the train fares, the expenses were like, what the heck!

Whatever, I just wanna go home tomorrow! Haha! Lot's of stuffs are waiting for me there! :)

New Firefly experience

It's Hari Raya and I am going home again! This time for my intra-Peninsular leg, I chose Firefly to fly down to KL.

It was a great choice at first because I bought the ticket for only 35 bucks! Wow!

All the journey starts at 0630 this morning...

It took me more than an hour to reach the airport by bus. After reaching there, I spent some hours to sleep on the benches because I stayed up whole night just to wait for this 1st bus of the day. Hmmm....

So I went to a different counter to check-in this morning,

None other than the Firefly counter! Hehehe...

My boarding pass. Look carefully, I am not flying to KUL this time, instead I fly to SZB - Subang Airport.

This is the plane that I board. The model ATR-72. Still, a lot mistakenly recognized it as Fokker 50. Very nice looking from the outside...

Contrary from other planes we have seen, we enter through the BACK door. Special.

Once I enter the cabin, I can immediately feel the difference. The cabin is much narrower. 2 by 2 seating plan also makes everyone more comfortable, I think.

Hand luggage compartment also noticeably much smaller. Can you see that?

Wow the propeller engine is just beside me!

The usual controls above the passenger.

The seat beat metal lift is also engraved with "Firefly". How nice!

The safety card that almost all passengers choose to ignore. Sigh...

This is what are served on board. A cupcake and a cup of drink. That's all. How I wish I have the guts to ask for more cupcakes. LOL.

Since this is a propeller plane, it flies with lower altitude, which means you have a clearer view of what's down there.

I was so fascinated by it, that I always do this during the flight.

Keep looking at the window! At least there are hot chicks down there! LOL

How I wish I can put the photos of the new Subang Skypark airport, but sorry, my battery died at the very minute I need it. Huhu...

In a nutshell, I totally enjoyed myself in my very first flight on propeller aircraft! It's a really good first experience! I hope I can use Firefly again in near future! Hehehe!

Anyway, I am reaching home tomorrow! Yay! Haha!

Finally I can touch CASH

Yes, I feel very happy to have some cash for myself after 2 weeks with NO CASH AT ALL.

It's not that I don't have money, but the truth is, in order to curb and control my spending, I put all my money into my prepaid credit card.

I'm not that dumb to show you my credit card number la!

I find this very useful to cut off my unnecessary SMALL spending, for example, drinks, snacks and so on. I can be control my of money really well.

However the major drawback is that I don't get to buy freshly cooked dishes! Tell me, which food stall will ever going to receive credit card as payment? Huh?

But things changed tonight. Thanks to my printer.

Lot's of my friends asked me to print their assignments and exercises. And yes, I do charged them 20 cents per piece. Result? CASH!!

Not little cash, is really A LOT OF CASH! Hahaha! Not only I can help my friends, I can also earn some cash! How nice it is to enjoy the best of both worlds! LOL

Now my printer, is not only a printer, it could be my life-saver, and also, my money-tree. :)

I saw this loaf of bread when I do my shopping at Merdeka Day at Tesco Mergong, Alor Setar.

Make sure you open your eyes BIG BIG to see the price! SEE!

SEE SEE SEE!!

It's freaking RM1.00 only!!

Though it's not sliced, but I still think very cheap!! Where on earth you can find it THAT ridiculously cheap bread!! Too cheap to be true le!

Too bad I didn't buy it because I just so determined to eat rice. LOL. And that trip down to Tesco was very disappointing because I just cannot find what I expect to find there! So sad....

Got my favourite drink FOR FREE

Last week I followed my friend to his fellowship dinner, somewhere in Perlis.

They serve my favourite drink. And I really appreciate it.

What is my favourite drink? My regular reader will know it at instant.

Yeah, Guinness again!

And finally I know that to enjoy a perfect Guinness, I must POUR it perfectly in a cup/glass! So that it won't be too bitter to drink, and yet keep the awesome flavour intact! All for my sheer enjoyment!

Thanks to my friend for that awesome dinner, beers and Guinness! Haha!

Hope this is a good move & decision

This is what I really hope, because this decision, could be benefiting me to the max, or push me to the brink of financial breakdown.

This is my decision, made yesterday.

I have bought a rice cooker, and intend to change my diet back to RICE.

I want to eat rice so much because I am terribly sick with Maggi (or whatever brands that are same type as this) mee. They make me wanna puke them out. Totally sick.

I just to eat rice. However this raises another question: What I shall gonna eat with rice? Surely I am not eating PLAIN RICE ONLY, right?

My solution?

YES... CANNED FOOD...

What you see there, they should be my food supply for this week. BIG MISTAKE.

I admit that this could be more unhealthy and more expensive than Maggi! However, I'm still sticking on my "no cash strategy" which prevent me on spending too much on small small things around me, like drinks, tidbits so on so forth.

So, will my move works? Or flops? Keep my fingers crossed.

Just now I had a test

I had a test just now, which was really bad for me. Totally bad.

Basic Communication Engineering is the subject that I HATE the most this semester. It was equally hard as other subjects, but it's very annoying to me. Confusing formulas, blurring theories make me such insane.

It is so hard with valid reasons because these are the high-end equipments that you have to handle during lab sessions! The spectrum analyser, some function generators, oscilloscope bla bla bla.... Lab sessions can really be tensed up as well.

By the way, I had my test in the communication lab anyway. Haha...

The lady in the middle is the technician of this lab. She's very picky of what we wear, how we behave inside bla bla bla... I was once ticked off by her because I forgot to arrange my chair back to original position. LOL so strict, so tension....

Relax a bit la...

Here's my friend Rajesh which was all smiles because he's damn ready for this test. Unlike me who surrendered even before the test started. Huhu...

In the test I had to draw this also, which is the last part of the test.

This stupid looking AM envelope waves. Fuh...

To be honest, I am still licking my wounds on the recent torrid bad times. I just simply can afford to be negative over and over again.

Back to no-cash routine

After just a brief one-week-holiday, I am back to campus life again. Which means back to my daily routines.

In addition, since it is fasting month now where food is so scarce during daytime, I decided to switch back to no-cash-strategy master plan.

Here's what I think I going to do most of the time when I am back from lectures and lab sessions.

Every time browsing the internet ~~for more porns~~, while eating instant noodles, sipping cereal drinks and listening to radio. Yeah, I do this repeatedly, all the time. No choice.

I even stocked up all my needed food supplies for a week already. See!

I bought 4 loaves of bread and 15 packets of instant last Saturday. Just over 2 days, I have finished 2 loaves of bread and 5 packets of noodles. Shocking huh? So how am I to survive this week with only these and no cash?

Or what? Join in my friends and puasa as well? Hmmm....

The weather in recent days is also not so well.

As you can see the dark clouds and the poodles of water on the paddy field, torrent rains has been pouring down over last few days. Yeah it's very nice to sleep, but it's bad for my clothes to dry. It could make me sick as well.

Seriously I don't want to get into jail again, OK.

Hopefully I can survive through this tough period. Just suffer for a month and off I back to hometown, again! Haha!

Burger King is the best Fast Food in KLIA

This is what I felt after spending a sleepless night in KLIA, and roaming around the main terminal building for FOOD.

Mind you, the food court is closed during late night hours.

For some 15 bucks, you will get this at KLIA.

A large cup of soft drink, large French fries, and the damn fresh and tasty WHOPPER.

And the WHOPPER burger is freaking big.

Sorry, it seemed small because I have ate a big part of it. It's loaded with vegetables, pickles, freshly grilled beef patty. Oh yum yum....

Needless to say, this top burger in Burger King just steal my heart away! That night, I not only has one, but 2 Whoppers!! Haha! I am so greedy....

Hey, if you think 15 bucks is too much, I dare to say there are more ridiculously priced at McDonald's, KFC, even at the food courts. For me, I am very satisfied with what I paid because I was served a great burger!

Not to mention the atmosphere there is much quieter, and I had my very own enclosed space to online, added with power supply! How nice!

I really shall visit Burger King every time I landed at KLIA. For sure. :)

For your information, they are 3 Burger King restaurants in KLIA. One at the Arrival Hall, one at the domestic departure hall, and one at the satellite building. So, enjoy your burger. :)

At airport again

Sometimes the journey to airport in Alor Star is not easy at all.

After a long 90++ minutes bus ride, I have to walk to the terminal. Sounds easy, but look at this...

It was a gruesome 1-kilometer-walk ok. And as you can see, there are drizzles at that moment. No blue skies, only dark clouds hovering the sky.

Since I arrive quite early, it's still very quiet down here.

Roughly the airport is a 2-storey building. What you see there is upper storey which is the departure. Downstairs is arrival hall. Still very much deserted at around 7pm.

As a consequence,

Check in counters are not yet opened. Don't ask me why there are steel barricades around the check-in area.

Bringing these back home

I am going to start my 2000++ kilometers journey back home tomorrow. As requested by my family and a friend, I am bringing all these back home.

Yes, Gardenia loaves of bread and buns! Not surprisingly everyone is so astonished that I am buying so much of these. Majority of them thought that I am buying food supplies for a month! Hahaha!

What you see there, is 15 cream buns (60 cents each), 5 sambal buns (80 cents each), and 3 loaves of Butterscotch (4 bucks per loaf)! Do the maths, it's all 25 bucks! Really a lot, and also, VERY EXPENSIVE! LOL

Now I have to think how on earth I am going to stuff them all into my luggage. Hehehe..

Yeah, glad that I can go back after 6 study weeks! It's really a break that I really wanted because I am quite fed up with how things go on here. Hmmm...

Life under quarantined

I have been under quarantined since Tuesday because I fell really sick the day before.

All those symptoms of H1N1 such as fever, coughs, flu, sore throat, body pains all popped up that day. I knew that this was NOT GOOD.

I think 3 things summarize this quarantined life. Nothing else.

Take my daily medications punctually. See I am a good patient. Doctor must be proud of me. :)

Wait for food to come. Yes FREE FOOD, given about 6 times a day! Don't get jealous because the food was not very nice!

SLEEP OF COURSE!!

Thinking back, this is the most unproductive week so far in my university life. Thinking back on how much I have missed in studies made me very distressed.

From a positive point of view, I do get a lot of sleep! Not to mention, skipping class "legally!" LOL

However I really want to go out now. I had enough.

Today's and last week's dinner

I just want to compare what I had for dinner over the two Fridays in last 2 weeks. Hehe.... You can say I post this just for the sake to post.

Last Friday I had this after the Sunday Mass in the evening.

This is Butter naan, something like roti canai, but it's thicker than that. It's baked under hot charcoal. Together with the ginger sauce and spices, it's so irresistable for me! Yum Yum...

The coke served as a refreshment for me, because the naan is quite oily, but it's really nice! Haha...

Then this is what I had just now, for dinner...

This was my first Chinese food as dinner for a long long time.... I think I never had any Chinese food for dinner ever since I am here in Perlis! Believe it or not??

As you can see, I had a bowl of kueh tiaw sup with fish balls. Nothing so fancy about it, but the kueh tiao is really really smooth, thin and full with aroma. It's noticeably smaller in width as well!

Ah, not to forgetting. the beer. Jaz Beer is purely Malaysian-made beer. Having a bottle after a full stomach brought so much satisfaction... It brought perfection to my dinner. Hahaha...

I can't help but to love Jaz Beer right now...

Not only it's purely Malaysian-made, it's the cheapest too! Hahaha... It's so "jaz-ing" my life! LOL
