Penang Trip Part 3 : Fort Cornwallis

Sorry everyone, I have been too LAZY to update my blog recently. Sorry sorry... I shall continue on my journey at the Pearl of the Orient.

My next stop was Fort Cornwallis.

And you were greeted with cannons. Without gunners, but with electric wires. Hehehe...

This is the main entrance, with a guy wearing English traditional clothes to greet you. Tickets are priced 3 bucks per person for adults.

The first thing I saw is this hut.

Sirih? Or tobacco? Maybe marijuana? Hmm...

With this Indian guy inside, acting macho and cool..

Well, the person behind this historical landmark is no other than the Founder of Penang, Francis Light.

Does he look handsome? Point to note though, it's not really him though. Hehehe..

His hats... Victorian style..

Hats along side with the gun.

Do you know what is this? Do tell me what you think it is in the comments! Haha..

There's a little chapel here. Nothing inside.

However there were some horses behind it! Strange, why do they keep horses here? Won't they going to jump off the wall and make all troubles downtown?

This is Penang in paintings when Francis Light started it off.

Some guy in the gallery..

Spices... ah, that made Europeans crazy on our land during those times.

A little sheep there... hehe... or goat? Hmm..

Some kind of painting of someone close to Francis Light.

Old time English camp. Maybe at those times they even know how did bricks look light, hmm?

Prison. Can you see the cell number hanging there?

Inside the prison. Looks cool.

Another cannon aiming to YOU!

Can you guess what is this little house for?

YES! REAL CANNON BALLS!

Prepare to fire, or maybe, GET FIRED. LOL :)

OK la, I am done for today. For sure, with this man called Francis Light, even though as a colonial invader, without him, there will be no Penang as it is today.

I will try to update more. I promise. Training my juniors for First Aid Competition are getting tougher and tougher.

Life goes on.. God bless you all!

Penang Trip Part 2 : Kek Lok Si

Kek Lok Si, or directly translated as "Temple of Extreme Happiness", is located pretty near to Penang Hill railway station in the district of Air Itam. It's possible to walk from there.

It's one of the most famous temples around Penang island. And for me, it's the only one I managed to go.

The temple is far away. One need to go up a small hill.

The BIG DOOR.

One big temple building.

The pagoda on a side.

The statues. I didn't go in. :)

Another pagoda. There are beggars on the corridors. zzz

Another 3 statues on another smaller temple.

An upper view.

Ate this famous Air Itam asam laksa. Not bad I have to say. The sugar cane juice is a very good thirst quencher.

Guess who are these 2 people?? Hehehe...

More rest for me then. Hehehe...

God bless you all!

Penang Trip Part 1 : Penang Hill

This is the first place of interest that I chose to visit when I was in Penang island.

If you want to visit this place, just board Rapid Penang bus number 204 from Weld's Quay, or from KOMTAR.

OK, let you see how this place looks like.

The main entrance to the funicular train. Another option to go up the hill is by using jeep, at another entrance.

Platform at Middle Station. Need to change trains.

View inside the train. Pretty nice.

We're going up...

The controls of the train.

Me in the middle of people. Duh hot hot hot...

A stop called Claremont Station, usually for the jungle hikers.

Another train coming by...

Going through the tunnel.

Should be about 700 meters above sea level.

Top station! I was there!

A hillside cottage there, hazy and cloudy view of the city.

Yes, BUKIT BENDERA.

The map of the whole Penang Hill. It's actually inhabited by quite a number of people here. And I realised with my conditions I can't walk every place. How sad...

Old style train..

Pity the telephone. The phone should be OK, but the booth just shows its age. Hmm..

There's a post office there, but it's not opening!! AH! There's a police station up there too.

Some kind of roundabout there.

It's a bit a blow that I cannot go through everywhere there. There's also a hotel, fancy restaurants and food stalls. It's good for people to go up there to escape the hustle and bustle down in the city.

Yeah that's all from me now. Miri is so freaking hot. I must admit. I am sweating now.

God bless you all.
